NEWTON, Iowa (Sept. 5, 2009) - Tim Bainey Jr. and the No. 00 Aaron's Lucky Dog NASCAR Truck Series Team came home with a 21st place finish at Iowa Speedway in the Lucas Oil 200 on Saturday night.
"We learned a lot this weekend with our Aaron's Lucky Dog Truck," said Bainey. "We came here with a completely different setup and suspension on the truck and it took me some time to get used to it. We still have a little work to do, but to come home with a 21st place finish in only our third start is pretty good for our Aaron's Dream Team."
The team spent a lot of time trying different setups on the No. 00 Aaron's Lucky Dog Truck during Friday's four practice sessions.
"We did a lot this weekend," said Crew Chief Dan Bainey. "We are only three races into this series with our Aaron's Team, and we're still working to get the right package together. Without getting to test a lot it makes it tough, but we're getting things dialed in a little better each time out."
When it was time for Saturday's qualifying session Bainey would qualify 32nd for the 36-truck field.
"Timmy ran a great lap in qualifying," said Dan. "The truck was really loose for him, but he did a good job doing what he had to do to get us in the show."
When the green flag fell, it was business as usual as Bainey and the No. 00 Aaron's Lucky Dog Truck would work their way up through the field. By the end of the night they had climbed eleven positions for a 21st place finish.
"We had a lot of great stops by the crew tonight," said Bainey. "My brother really made a lot of good adjustments on the truck, and it was great to get another 200 laps of seat time in the truck." "Every time out you pick up something, and I'm pretty happy with where we are at right now," Bainey finished up.
The team heads back home to spend a little time with the family after the passing of Bainey's grandmother last week.
"It's was a really tough week losing Gram," said Bainey. "Times like this put a lot of things in perspective."
"Even when you're going through the tough spots in the learning curve of this stuff it's not that bad. We're just fortunate to have the people we have around us, the crew, our sponsors, and everyone involved."
"We're getting there with our Aaron's Dream Team, and we're enjoying every minute of it!"
Bainey and the Aaron's Dream Team Express Tour will continue their nationwide tour with a number of appearances surrounding the Iowa NASCAR Truck Series event.
