It was a tough day at O'Reilly Raceway Park (ORP) for Tim Bainey, Jr. and the Aaron's Dream Team. After a promising day of practice, the #00 Aaron's Lucky Dog Truck would develop mechanical problems in the steering system and force them end the night with a 31st place finish in the AAA Insurance 200 at ORP.
"We really worked hard today to get our Aaron's Truck in shape for tonight's race, and for it to end so early ... it's pretty disappointing for us," said Bainey.
Making only their second start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Bainey and the Aaron's Dream Team constantly improved throughout the day. They qualified 29th for the AAA Insurance 200 Event, and were very optimistic about the way the truck ran in practice.
"We worked on race setup all day," said Bainey. "We ran our best time in practice on our very last run, on old tires, and I was really comfortable with the truck. We were pulling down pit road to make our sticker run and they threw the red flag to end practice."
"We ended up being a little tight in qualifying and I'm sure we would have loosened it up a little bit had we got that run in. But overall I'm thrilled with the way things are coming together for our Aaron's Lucky Dog Truck Team. I mean, for only our second trip out at this level, it's hard to not be smiling about where we are at!"
"I have to thank everyone at Aaron's for allowing us to be out here doing this," Bainey added. "Nights like this are tough, but we'll head back to the shop and get things ready for Bristol. We ran really well there in the past and I think it's a place where we are going to be able to really turn some heads in a few weeks."
Bainey and the AARON'S DREAM TEAM EXPRESS TOUR will be hitting stops in Pennsylvania this week as they roll into Johnstown, Penn. Friday afternoon at noon, and spend the evening in Somerset, Penn. from 4-7 p.m. They will cap off the weekend with a visit to their "hometown" store in Altoona, Penn. on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.
