Aaron’s Dream Machine Finishes Eighth at Texas Motor Speedway November 1, 2008 (FORT WORTH, TEXAS) David Reutimann collected his 15th top-ten finish of the 2008 season after taking the checkered flag eighth in the NASCAR Nationwide Series O’Reilly Challenge at the Texas Motor Speedway. With two races remaining on the schedule, Reutimann looks to end the season solidly in the top-five in the drivers championship points race.
Starting the 200-lap O’Reilly Challenge 19th, Reutimann steadily moved the No. 99 Aaron’s Dream Machine forward through the field during the first half of the event. Wanting more grip in the front tires so the car would be faster through the high-banked turns, crew chief Jerry Baxter ordered several chassis changes on his first three pit stops and improved the handling.
Reutimann broke into the top-ten on lap119 and moved as high as seventh before reporting that the Dream Machine handled fine but felt “draggy” and lacked power going down the straightaways. As the laps wore down, Reutimann drove as hard as he could and managed a solid eighth place finish.
“The Aaron’s Dream Machine was good there at the end of the race,” David stated after the event. “Jerry (Baxter) and the guys did a great job on the car and the pit stops were awesome, but it felt like we lost a little horsepower there at the end and I just couldn’t gain any more positions. All in all it was a decent day for us.”
Reutimann maintains the sixth position in the driver points race and eighth in the owner points race with two races remaining on the 2008 Nationwide series schedule.
Aaron’s received considerable exposure both at the speedway and during the ESPN broadcast. In addition to pre-race interviews and pit stop coverage during the race, Aaron’s was highly visible with strategic trackside signage. Texas associates setup a corporate display outside the track entertaining fans and showcasing Aaron’s product and flexible payment options throughout the weekend.
Aaron’s will not be the primary sponsor on the No. 99 next week at Phoenix, but will return Nov. 15 for the season finale at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
