Aaron’s Dream Machine Collects 12th Top-Ten of 2008

BRISTOL, TN (August 23, 2008) David Reutimann fought an ill-handling Aaron’s Dream Machine for most of the evening Friday and finished eight in the NASCAR Nationwide Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway.  The 12th top-ten of the year moved Reutimann up to fourth in the championship driver points.

Reutimann started tenth for the Friday night event at the world’s fastest half-mile oval track and dropped back as far as 15th during the opening laps of the 250-lap event as the Aaron’s Dream Machine was tight through the center of the high-banked turns.  However, Reutimann kept turning consistent laps and stayed out of trouble during an 86-lap green flag run at the beginning of the race.

When caution finally fell and Crew Chief Jerry Baxter had an opportunity to work on the setup, the crew made major changes to the Dream Machine and picked up four positions on the first pit stop on lap 89.  The changes helped the handling, but Reutimann would need more if he was going to be able to run up front.

The next opportunity to make any more changes would not come until 100-laps later when a caution came out and Reutimann brought the car in on lap-189.  Baxter again made major changes and the crew again had a great pit stop and Reutimann moved into ninth on the restart.

While the changes helped, the car was still a handful through the turns, but Reutimann held on to take the checkered flag in the eight position.

After hearing news of Ken Butler’s mother passing away this week, Michael Waltrip placed decals on all four of his racecars paying tribute to the life of Thelma Butler.

Aaron’s had a very large presence at the speedway this week.  In addition to our trackside signage, Aaron’s hosted the Aaron’s 150 USAR Hooters ProCup event Wednesday evening and setup a corporate display outside of the track all week to entertain the 200,000 plus attending fans and educate them about Aaron’s products and services.

Aaron’s also held a press conference Friday announcing its partnership with Michael Waltrip Racing and David Reutimann will continue through 2009.  Aaron’s will be the primary sponsor of the No. 00 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Dream Machine for 18 select races with David Reutimann as the driver, and 10 select races as primary on the No. 99 NASCAR Nationwide Series Dream Machine with drivers Reutimann and Michael Waltrip.

If that were not enough, Aaron’s hosted the winners of the Aaron’s Dream Seats sweepstakes Friday and Saturday.  Aaron’s has four recliners perched on the concourse level of the speedway offering one of the best views at the speedway.  Friday’s winners were Michael and James DeBiase from Chester, VA and Saturday’s winners were Cheryl and Amy Bond from Sherburn, MN.

Bristol has been a good partner with Aaron’s for over seven years and continues to produce some of the best short-track racing on the NASCAR circuit.

The next race for Reutimann and the Aaron’s Dream Machine will be Saturday, August 30 at the California Speedway.  You can catch all of the race action on ESPN2 at 9:45 pm eastern.
