HAMPTION, GA (March 8, 2008) David Reutimann drove the No. 99 NASCAR Nationwide Series Aaron’s Dream Machine to a tenth place finish in the Nicorette 300 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway Saturday.  Reutimann started the race fifth based on owner points, because the Saturday morning qualifying session was cancelled due to snow.

The Dream Machine moved as high as third in the opening laps of the 200-lap event but fell back to tenth after the first pit stop.  The car was very loose through the corners on the second set of tires, and Reutimann did all he could to keep the Dream Machine on the track.  

“The Aaron’s Dream Machine would start out okay, but the longer we went it was freer,” Reutimann said. “I could only put a little wheel to it.”

Reutimann and Crew Chief Jerry Baxter decided to come into the pits under caution to make major changes and give up their current track position.  Restarting 23^rd, David again did all he could to keep from spinning out and hung on until the next caution.

Again the crew made major chassis adjustments that seemed to make the car better.  David raced his way back into the top ten as high as eighth, but the adjustments were too much this time.  It seemed the car was very sensitive to the changes and the Dream Machine fell back to 14^th in the closing laps.  David was able to mount a charge at the end and work his way back to tenth when the checkered flag fell.

The tenth place finish moved Reutimann up to sixth in the driver points race only five points behind fifth. 

Aaron’s enjoyed exceptional exposure on ESPN 2 during the race broadcast.  Producers included a feature on the 99 car midway through the race highlighting the communication between Reutimann and Baxter as they discussed the handling of the car.
