With two races in two different states, this weekend won't be an easy one for young Chase Elliott. But it could be an exciting one as he looks to wrap up the Super 6 Championship on Saturday at Lanier Speedway before heading off to Winchester (Indiana) Speedway for his second start in the CRA series.
Lanier Set to Crown Super 6 Champion
Braselton, GA (September 1, 2009) - Many teams have had 'dream' seasons this year at Lanier National Speedway and with the Georgia Asphalt Series. This Saturday night, September 5th, those racers, along with the competition look to make their names become the headliner as the 2009 points season is only weeks away from crowning champions all around. Heading into this Saturday's event, the Georgia Asphalt Series has three points' events remaining, as the NASCAR Whelen All American local divisions are heading into the points crunch as well with two events remaining.
One racer who has had a season that many dream of is Chase Elliott. Elliott, driver of the #9 Aaron's Dream Machine Ford, from Dawsonville, GA, started off the 2009 Georgia Asphalt Series season with a respectable 7th and 3rd place finish from the season opening race at Watermelon Capital Speedway, in Cordele, GA, and Anderson Motor Speedway in Anderson, SC. As the adage goes, Chase found that the third start of the GAS season was the charm, as he recorded his first win on May 2nd at Lanier National Speedway. Elliott leads the Georgia Asphalt Series points' heading into its last of six runs at the 3/8th's mile asphalt oval. With the pressure that leading a National Late Model Series points can bring, Elliott also leads the Super 6 points as well; a separate point's battle that counts on the six GAS races at Lanier National Speedway. If the thirteen year old can hold off to keep the points lead in both the Super 6 and the 2009 GAS points championship he can capture the big check of an additional $25,000.
Pit gates will swing open Saturday at 10 am with tech for the Georgia Asphalt Series being at 11 am. Grandstand gates will open at 5 pm with the green flag dropping for the NASCAR Whelen Weekly Series and Georgia Asphalt Series events at 7 pm.
As the extended weekend of Labor Day is upon us, and discounted family fun, is hard to find, Lanier National Speedway has just the answer that you are looking for! Children 11 years old and under are absolutely free with the purchase of an adult ticket for this Saturday's event.
